Rob's Coffee Table

Rob asked for a solid Kiaat coffee table in a mid century style that will match the decor in his home. We agreed on the design with a slatted shelf. All joinery on the base is traditional mortise and tenon. The top is also solid Kiaat and is attached to the base with kiaat buttons, a traditional method that allows the top to expand and contract with humidity changes without risking cracking or warping. All surfaces were hand planed and then hand finished with superfine sandpaper and oil. Finally it was waxed and buffed. This is a labour intensive task but well worth it for the lustre and feel.

Tinus' Bookcase

Tinus needed a bookcase that fit behind his couch. He had some ideas for the design which we took and adapted for his specific space. After discussing the timber choice and dimensions we settled on this final design. 

All joinery is mortise and tenon. The back board is solid kiaat that was resawn into thin boards and shiplapped to allow seasonal expansion and contraction of the wood. The surface was hand planed and then sanded and oiled.

Carol's Coffee table

This coffee table was made for Carol's 70th bday as a surprise present. She was thrilled! 

The top is white oak, the shelf is white oak and kiaat and the base and legs are kiaat. This table has an oil and wax finish. 

N's headboard

N asked for a slatted white oak headboard to fit a King size bed. The design is freestanding and finished with a hardwax oil finish.
